Reality suggests that the Chinese Navy will soon have a functioning aircraft carrier and the Chinese Airforce will have at least one if not two versions of a stealth combat jet. While these developments probably do not keep the US. Pentagon up at night. Prudence dictates that the Asian militaries sit up and take notice.
Japan, S. Korea and Austrailia should obtain the F 35 B stealth attack jet for the following reasons. This jet will give these airforces a stealth capability equal to or better than the Chinese will have. These jets with their short take off capability can operate from highways if their airbase runways are damaged. These jets could if needed , operate from helicopter carrier ships allowing these nations navies to match the Chinese aircraft carrier capability. The F35 B is the answer to the problem.

Having an aircraft carrier gives the Chinese Navy a whole new regional offensive capability.
The ASEAN nations should repond to this by forging a military alliance. Also in order to balance the naval power in south east asia. The US. should provide Thailand with eight Harrier Jump Jets for their Aircraft Carrier.

I agree that the US should gift a squadron of Harriers to the Thai Navy. Especially since the US recieved a bunch of Harriers from Britain that they do not really need. I like that the US has provided two ex Coast Guard Cutters to strengthen the Philippines Navy. They should provide one more cutter and then modernize them with Harpoon missiles and a Sparrow missile RAM system so that these ships are combat capable and not just rescue / Fisheries patrol ships. The Philippines are a strategically located nation that needs to be able to control their sea lanes.
